NOTES ON A TWO-FER: Two versions of the same cartoon. When I first did the ink drawing, it was based upon the non-stop coverage Obama was getting after a huge month of fund-raising. But then I set the drawing aside and didn't decide to color it until almost six months later, and by that time the story was kinda dead, and people accused me of being racist for showing a black guy dancing. The version below is closer to the original, actually, with the podium and stage...the original pencil sketch had crowds of reporters and cameras and microphones clamoring around him. - RMcG |
